Episode 82

Dating Apps, “Jihad Rehab” Doc, Oregon Drug Decriminalization

Ravi and Rikki start with the 10-year anniversary of Tinder and how dating apps have changed the way people interact, before turning to the lackluster early returns from Oregon’s move to decriminalize hard drugs and the cultural appropriation uproar over the once-celebrated and since-canceled Meg Smaker documentary “Jihad Rehab.”

SHOW NOTES

With Tinder turning ten this month, Ravi and Rikki tackle the effects, positive and negative, that dating apps have had on modern romance and socialization.

The hosts critique Oregon’s early results from an ambitious move to decriminalize hard drugs, noting how the program’s flawed rollout could impact a surprisingly tight governor’s race.

Ravi and Rikki question whether the accusations of cultural appropriation against Meg Smaker and her documentary “Jihad Rehab” are at all valid.
